| cone beam supplement use of CBCT and CAD/CAM The use of CBCT and CAD/CAM techniques in complex implant-supported rehabilitation of maxilla—Part I Author: Dr Tomasz Śmigiel, Poland Introduction Patients who visit our clinic and wish to receive prosthetic treatment are frequently unaware of the possibilities that modern medicine has to offer. Neither are they aware of the fact that implantolog- ical treatment is not a ‘one-day’ treatment and that the integration of implants with bone tissues takes some time. That time can range from several weeks to several months. What they are also unaware of is the fact that after some time from the moment the teeth have been extracted, the bone will atrophy and hence it is often necessary to perform augmenta- tion procedures first before dental implants can be placed. Therefore, a complete treatment may last from several months to up to a year.
