Clair..the Chair with Flair Takara Belmont is launching the Clair Chair as a stand alone piece of equipment that would be an asset to almost any surgery. The Clair range consists of two models, the 050 and 055; both combine practicality with undeniable design flair. Designed for an array or working methods, its versatility will prove particularly popular amongst private practices. As knee break chairs, they not only help patient access, but are also considerably easier for disabled patients. The unique design also enables the dentist to achieve a more personal consultation with the patient. Whilst giving the overall impression of an armchair, making the patient feel more relaxed, the chair height and position can be adjusted making it equally practical to work with. The extendable leg rest offers patient comfort and the smooth and seamless upholstery make it easy to clean and ensure the highest possible hygiene standards are maintained. The 055 offers a power headrest, two preset positions, last position memory and auto-return, foldaway detachable armrests and is suitable for both right and left handed installation. The 050 boasts the same features but with a twin articulating headrest. As with all Takara Belmont equipment, free extended warranties are available. Straight Talk Seminars offers a range of hands – on courses that focus on excellence in minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry. Central to this approach is the use of the Inman aligner either as a stand-alone treatment or as a tool to pre-align teeth prior to minimal cosmetic or restorative treatment. The Inman Aligner is a revolutionary appliance, described as the ‘missing – link’between cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics, that can move teeth in the anterior region predictably and quickly. The expert Straight Talk Seminars team spoke to delegates about how the Inman Aligner Hands – On Course has been designed to teach attendees how to use the Inman Aligner in order to be a certified user. Further courses on minimally invasive veneers, clinical and portrait photography and aesthetic crown lengthening as well as an advanced Inman course will be announced by Straight Talk Seminars later this year. A recent survey undertaken by the BDHF shows that 51.3 per cent of adults admit to rinsing with water following toothbrushing. The “spit – not rinse” advice stems from the concern that rinsing with water after toothbrushing will negate the positive effect of fluoride in the mouth and simply wash it away. The scenario changes however if a mouthwash containing fluoride is used as a rinse instead of water. In fact, a recent blinded, randomised study has shown that 100 ppm mouthwash, such as Listerine, even when used immediately after brushing, maintains the fluoride levels obtained from a fluoridated toothpaste. For patients who are in the habit of rinsing vigorously with water after brushing, using Listerine instead, or immediately afterwards can be useful for better protection against caries.
