n Bereits zur festen Tradition ge- worden, gehörte die erste Stunde der nunmehr 34. Internationalen Den- tal-Schau der Pressekonferenz von DENTSPLY DeTrey. Im Mittelpunkt der Veranstaltung standen mehrere neue fortschrittliche Produkte, von denen besonders die restaurative Zahnheilkunde profitieren soll. Die Moderation der Pressekon- ferenz übernahm Mathias Kraus, seit Januar dieses Jahres neuer Verkaufs- direktor bei DENTSPLY DeTrey. Nach seinen einführenden Worten refe- rierte Geschäftsführer Claus-Peter Jesch über die Geschäftsbilanz 2010 und die Ziele für das folgende Jahr. Im Bereich der di- rekten Füllungstherapie konnte das SDR (Smart Dentin Replacement) mit mehr als 7 Millionen Anwendungen zum Erfolg im deutschen Dentalmarkt beitragen. Ähnliche Ziele würden mit den Neuprodukten – ChemiFil Rock und dem Endo-Resto System – ange- strebt, so Jesch. Nach Angaben von Dr. Andreas E. Grützner, Direktor Klinische For- schung bei DENTSPLY DeTrey, habe SDR die Füllungstherapie von Sei- tenzähnen wesentlich vereinfacht. Die Möglichkeit, ein fließfähiges Kompositmaterial in der „Bulkfill“ Füllungstechnik, also in Inkremen- ten von 4mm, anwenden zu können, und die Fähigkeit dieses „Dentiner- satzes“, die Kavitätenwände vollstän- dig und fehlerfrei zu benetzen, wird als echter Fortschritt verstanden. Es vereinfache das ansonsten bei kon- ventionellen Kompositen erforderli- che aufwendige Schichten in Inkre- menten. Die Zuverlässigkeit bestätig- ten auch die aktuellen 24-Monats- Daten einer prospektiven Studie an über 100 Klasse I- und Klasse II-Res- taurationen. Dr. Grützner stellte außerdem das Endo-Resto System vor. Damit wird eine zertifizierte Komplettlösung für die sofortige definitive adhäsive Fül- lung nach einer endodontischen Be- handlung mit AH Plus Wurzelkanal Sealer angeboten, welches das Anwen- dungsspektrum von SDR erweitert. Die Wurzelkanalfüllung und der de- finitive adhäsive Verschluss könnten mit dem Endo-Resto System in nur ei- ner Sitzung erfolgen. Prof. Dr. Roland Frankenberger, Universität Marburg, stellte schließ- lich neueste Erkenntnisse und klini- schen Erfahrungen mit SDR vor. Da- bei hat sich Smart Dentin Replace- ment in einer Vielzahl klinischer Situationen als besonders geeignet erwiesen. So bevorzuge er das Mate- rial beispielsweise bei schwierigen Versorgungen von „7er UK“, wenn keine Sicht über die Matrize sowie keine Möglichkeit besteht, das Univer- salkomposit an die Kavitätenränder und an die Matrize zu applizieren. Hier biete dass fließfähige, selbstnivellie- rende SDR einen großen klinischen Vorteil. Das neue Hochleistungs-Glas- ionomer ChemFil Rock sprach Prof. Frankenberger als nächstes Thema an. Dieses Glasionomer besitze im Ver- gleich zu bisher führenden Marken eine signifikant bessere Abrasions- und Frakturresistenz. Das zeigen In- vitro-Daten: Nach 100.000 Zyklen im Kausimulator, welche circa zwei Jahre klinischer Tragezeit entsprechen, tra- ten keinerlei Füllungsfrakturen auf. So sieht Prof. Frankenberger in Chem- Fil Rock das Potenzial für eine Basis- versorgung solcher Patienten, denen die zweifellos höherwertige und lang- lebigere Seitenzahnversorgung mit einem Komposit zu teuer ist – also eine Alternative zu Amalgam. 7 n The focus of the DENTSPLY DeTrey press conference during the 34th IDS was on several new products in the area of restorative dentistry. Mathias Kraus, who has been sales director at DENTSPLY DeTrey since January of 2011, gave a brief introduction and then passed the podium over to CEO Claus- Peter Jesch. Jesch discussed the company’s 2010 sales history and its goals for the upcoming year. According to Jesch, the company can look back upon excellent sales thanks to a num- ber of products that have done ex- tremelywellinthemarket.Inthefield of direct filling therapy, SDR (smart dentin replacement) contributed to the success in the German dental market with more than 7 million ap- plications. Jesch said he hoped that new products, ChemiFil Rock and the Endo-Resto system, would be just as well received. According to Dr Andreas E. Grützner, director of clinical research at DENTSPLY DeTrey, SDR has consid- erably simplified filling therapy for side teeth. The option of using a flow- able composite material in bulk-fill techniques, and thus in increments of 4 mm, as well as the ability to use this dentin replacement to moisten the cav- ity walls, is seen as welcome progress in the industry. It simplifies the trou- blesome layering in increments that is required by conventional composites. The product’s dependability is also confirmed by data collected over 24 months by a perspective study of more than 100 Class I and Class II restora- tions. Grützner also introduced the Endo-Resto system. This system of- fers a complete solution because an immediate adhesive filling can be of- fered after endodontic treatment with AH Plus root-canal sealer, which en- hances the range of SDR’s application. The root-canal filling and the defini- tive adhesive seal can be applied in just one visit thanks to the Endo-Resto system. Prof. Roland Frankenberger from the University of Marburg introduced the latest clinical results with SDR, which show that smart dentin replace- ment has proven to be particularly suitable in a number of clinical situa- tions. Frankenberger stated that he prefers the material if there is no op- tion to apply a universal composite to the cavity edges and to the cavity itself when filling a difficult tooth #7 lower jaw cavity. In this case, the flowable, self-leveling SDR offers a clinical ad- vantage. Frankenberger also discussed the new high-performance glass ionomer, ChemFil Rock. In comparison to many leading brands, this glass ionomer possesses significantly better abra- sion and fracture resistance. This is shown by in vitro data, where after 100,000 cycles in the chewing simu- lator, which corresponds to approxi- mately two years of a clinical gestation period, no sign of filling fractures were present.
