LAB TRIBUNE The World’s Dental Lab Newspaper · U.S. Edition Jeff Stronk is co-owner of Trea- sure Dental Studio in Salt Lake City, Utah, a 20-person laboratory. He manages the implant department and general administration of the laboratory, and has been in the industry since 1990. Before coming into the labora- tory industry, Stronk worked a num- ber of years for Nordstrom. February 2011 www.dental-tribune.com Vol. 2, No. 2 Stronk currently serves as the laboratory representative for the Utah Dental Association and is a past president of the Dental Labora- tory Owners Business Association. Treasure Dental Studio is a Dental Services Group Affiliate lab and a member of the Utah Dental Labora- tory Association and the NADL. He has served on the Budget and Finance, Business Management and Communications Advisory Board for the NADL. A faculty member and graduate of NADL University, Stronk is a tireless advocate for NADL, NBC and the Foundation for Dental Laboratory Technology. Stronk is an avid Utah football fan, “Parrot head — or a Jimmy Buf- fet fan, for those who don’t know the term,” and enjoys motorcycles and the outdoors. Brown served as a director of National Dentex since 1998 when he was also appointed president. He became chief executive officer of National Dentex in 2000. Brown joined National Dentex in 1984 as vice president-finance and chief financial officer and was appoint- ed treasurer of the company in 1991. He is a past chairman of the Dental Trade Alliance and is a former mem- ber of its board of directors. Brown is a former director of the Dental Trade Alliance Foundation and of the National Association of Dental Laboratories and is a former member of the board of fel- lows of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. On Dec. 15, 2009, the board of direc- tors of National Dentex Corporation approved a management succession plan for National Dentex. Under the management succession plan, Brown resigned his position as president but continued his CEO role for another year. He retired from National Dentex on Sept. 30, 2010. Brown was respected by all in the industry for his down-to-earth style, high level of integrity and passion for the people that make dental laboratory technology. NADL 2011 Laboratory Member of the Year presented to Georgia Dental Laboratory Gary Killgo, CDT, and Don Killgo, CDT, worked in private practices and com- mercial labs before establishing Geor- gia Dental Laboratory. Gary and Don were introduced to dental technology by their father, Lamar, who started in the business in 1939 and was among the first dental technicians in the country to become a CDT. In 1981, Gary and Don Killgo realized their vision of a company that would be an industry leader — offering the highest quality dental prosthetics available — when they opened Georgia Dental Laboratory. After starting with just Don and Gary for the first year, then hiring one technician for the next two to three years, Georgia Dental now employs g LT page 2B
