LAB TRIBUNE | January 2011 Industry 3C SensAble Technologies, a leading provider of dental restoration design and fabrication solutions, 3-D mod- eling software and haptic devices, announced recently that it has further expanded its network of European partners in service to the growing dental lab business in Europe. The company has announced part- nerships with SILADENT Dr. Böhme & Schöps GmbH, Goslar, Germany, and Innodema, an alliance of den- tal lab fabrication experts based in Belgium, both of which become SensAble authorized production cen- ters (SAPCs). Following September’s appointment of other German pro- duction and milling partners, the new partnership appointments further expand SensAble’s dental lab mar- ket presence in Europe, where the company markets its award-winning SensAble™ Dental Lab System and the new modular configurations designed for the European market. As a SensAble authorized produc- tion center, SILADENT can guaran- tee the fit of restorations made using authorized design configurations of the SensAble Dental Lab System and maintain quality and turnaround stan- dards in accordance with SensAble’s SAPC program. Also an SAPC, Innodema will be offering direct metal fabrication of parts designed on the SensAble Dental Lab System in partnership with dif- ferent SensAble customers located in Belgium, the Netherlands and other European countries. Direct metal fab- rication is an innovative approach that is economical and ecologically friend- ly and designed to meet labs’ highest quality standards. SensAble showcased its dental lab solutions, along with numerous part- ner offerings by SILADENT, Innode- ma and others — including dental lab system reseller Antonius Koester, GmbH & Co. of Meschede, Germa- ny, and R+K CAD/CAM Technologie of Berlin, another SAPC — at the EuroMold conference in Frankfurt in December. “As a customer of SensAble, I’ve been amazed at the quality that is possible using the SensAble Dental Lab System, and so we are delight- ed to offer outsourced fabrication of SensAble-designed restorations to other labs,” said Marc Vosters, direc- tor of Innodema. “We know we can add tremendous value to those dental labs looking to move from wax to digi- tal design. We can help them to lower the production costs of dental frames, crowns and bridges and other innova- tive dental applications, and this in an ecological-friendly way.” “SILADENT is excited to be a SensAble authorized production center for Germany,” said Markus Rehse, CEO of SILADENT. “SILAD- ENT Dr. Böhme & Schöps is one of the largest European manufacturers of dental gypsum, duplicating materi- als and investments, and a specialist in the casting technique. Expanding our business into digital design is a natural progression for us. Being at Euromold within SensAble’s booth is the first of many activities that will bring our joint customers the best of SILADENT and SensAble.” With the worldwide dental lab mar- ket projected to grow to $14.5 billion by 20151 , labs are rapidly adopting digital solutions that provide more precise and accurately-fitting resto- rations in less time — a savings for labs, dentists and patients. SensAble’s expanding network of dental lab part- ners helps assure labs of ready access to the fabrication services they need for efficiently produced, precisely fit- ting work for their dentists. “We are committed to growing our customer base among dental labs in Europe and to providing them with innovative products and the wide choice of fabrication services they need,” said Bob Steingart, president of SensAble Dental. “Today’s dental labs want the flexibility of open systems while maintaining consistent quality and fit, and SensAble and its partners are meeting that need.” About the SensAble Dental Lab System SensAble Technologies is the only provider to offer a lab-proven digi- tal solution for the production of both partials and crown-and-bridge restorations. The company provides turnkey systems, including com- ponents from scanning to fabrica- tion, as well as new modular solu- tions that were designed for the needs of the European dental lab market. Using the SensAble Dental Lab System’s standard file formats, SensAble’s modular systems allow labs to take advantage of existing scanners and fabrication technolo- gies they may already own, or send out their designs to their choice of fabrication partners. 1. KOMET’s diamonds with a sin- tered bond (DSB) are laboratory “grinders” interspersed either with a medium (107 µm), coarse (151 µm) or super coarse (181 µm) dia- mond grit. DSB instruments are designed with high-quality dia- monds and provide users with long service lives and good dimensional stability, generating very little dust during operation. The following DSB instruments are currently available: • 7801/76801: medium and coarse round instruments • 7805/76805: medium and coarse inverted cone instruments • 7928: medium hollow inverted cone instrument • 7825/76825: medium and coarse knife-edge instruments • 76881: coarse cylinder round instrument • 76859: coarse needle instru- ment • 7848: medium flat-end tapered instrument • 7856/76856: medium and coarse round-end tapered • 7862: medium flame instrument • 7852/76852: medium and coarse needle instruments • 7351/76351/75351: medium, coarse and super coarse round-end tapered instruments • 76251/75251: coarse and super coarse flame instruments KOMET USA recommends that all DSBs be cleaned and sharp- ened by using a KOMET cleaning stone (9750), thus preventing black marks on ceramics and extending its already long service life. KOMET’s U.S. headquarters is located in Rock Hill, S.C. For more information about KOMET USA or the DSB Instruments, call (888) 566- 3887 or visit www.komet-usa.com.
