Periodontal surgery not only faces increasing demands in regeneration and implant dentistry but also in the field of esthetic procedures. n In einer Umfrage der American Academy of Periodontology1 antworte- ten 50 Prozent der 253 Verbraucher, dass sie das Lächeln als erstes Ge- sichtsmerkmal wahrnehmen. (cid:2) n In a poll conducted by the American Academy of Periodontology1 50 per cent of the 253 consumers answered that the smile is the first facial feature they notice and 81 per cent reported that they are not happy with their own smile. Reflecting the need for training in esthetic procedures in the field of reconstructive periodontal surgery the workshop is already fully booked. Highlights of the workshop with Prof. Giovanni Zucchelli will be published in the online edition of the Dental Tribune. State-of-the-art regenerative pro- cedures are also discussed in a wider context during the corporate forum of Straumann (see below).
